COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has a strong evidence base, and a lot of people report finding it helpful.  CBT asks us to take a step back from what we are feeling, and to see the impact our thoughts (or cognitions) have on our behaviours.  CBT aims to help people both manage symptoms, but also develop different patterns to enable the client to become their own therapist.

How can you be sure a CBT therapist is fully qualified to practice?

When looking for a therapist who meets the full training standards required to practice cognitive behaviour therapy you should visit the website of the BABCP (British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies). Click the link below and search by therapist name to ensure they are accredited.
